If your interest in belly dancing has grown over time, then you should start investing in quality clothing pieces! Here are the clothing pieces that would make you enjoy your belly dance lessons more!

  1. Belly dance skirts

Skirts are a belly dancer’s uniform besides their hip scarf. You could choose from their different types like a fishtail, chiffon, and gypsy. They can be more or less revealing, especially chiffon skirts as they have long split.

  1. Belly dance tops

This clothing piece can come as a coin or bead bra. They can be seen in cabaret shows as it is the classical costume for it. While choli tops are used more in tribal style dances, and bolero tops are tied in front with a knot.

  1. Pantaloons

You might have seen your instructor in belly dance school wearing this. It is a pair of trousers where the bottom is wide, characterised as bell-shaped fashion used in tribal style dances. Harem pants, however, are wide bottoms tied around the ankles with an elastic band.

  1. Beledi dress

Belly dancers call this Gallabiya, and it is a one-piece costume. It is simple, plain but comfortable as it is made of cotton. Although, it can be heavily decorated with sparkling beads like seen in cabaret-style belly dancers!

  1. Headbands or turbans

To hold their hair, cabaret belly dancers use headbands. Tribal dancers, however, use turbans. They use this to ease their balance when they are performing with a sword.

  1. Sarongs

These are similar to hip scarves but what makes it stand out is that it is longer, thus making it look like you are wearing a long skirt. Often, it comes with long fringes that look nice when they are swung while dancing. This is not exactly a need, but it could be a nice addition to your overall look.
