Exploring Asia is a thrilling experience. The traditions and cultures of every country will immerse you in an experience unlike any other. For my personal journey, travelling around Asia was one of the best I’ve ever had. As an avid explorer, I appreciated every site and community I’ve passed through.
After all these trips, one thing came into mind when I returned to Singapore. I realized the importance of communication. With this, I thought of improving my communication skills. One way to do that is to learn a new language, specifically Mandarin and Cantonese.
Why though?
Since travelling around the world requires you to be aware of the culture and people around every destination, it’s essential to know a thing or two about each language. This is why I enrolled in a Mandarin language course in Singapore. I want to learn more about Mandarin.
You might be thinking, why Mandarin? I chose Mandarin because I mainly travel around Mainland China. A lot of the people there speaks Mandarin. Also, since I live in Singapore, learning how to speak Mandarin is an advantage since most Chinese here speak the language.
Of course, I studied Cantonese as well. I participated in a Chinese language course for adults in Singapore that includes both Mandarin and Cantonese. These two languages were helpful in the long run because my basic knowledge in Mandarin and Cantonese aided me in my future trips around China.
Communication is key to success
Language is the bridge to mankind’s gap. Obviously, I can’t learn every language on Earth, so I did my best to find a language or two that’ll help me in the long run. I eventually settled with Mandarin and Cantonese because I knew I could use my new skills in the future, specifically around Singapore and China.
The results were worth it. I was able to speak clearly with Chinese who weren’t fond of English. It’s a godsend being able to speak with others in a convenient manner!

The best thing about the entire experience is the fact that it was a fun and engaging journey. Enrolling in Mandarin classes for adults in Singapore was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My investment in the courses I took was worth it.
