Math is a tough subject to learn. Every individual has their own specific weaknesses. My son was struggling with math Although he excelled in creative subjects and programs like arts and literature, he was doing below average when it came to numbers.
I can empathise with my child. When I was his age, I was also doing poor in mathematics. Numbers boggled me, and it was darn frustrating. Now as a grown father with the past behind, these problematic numbers are nothing but a memory. But with my child experiencing the same fate as I did, I can do something about it. I enrolled him in a math tuition centre in Singapore.
My son studied at Flipside Education Hub, a secondary school that teaches Mathematics, English, Science, and Humanities. They demonstrate an innovative style of teaching called “Flipside Classroom”, where students learn at their own pace.
This kind of education is really helpful for young kids. Students aren’t supposed to be treated like grown ups who can just simply adapt to the information delivered . Each and every child deserves to be given the opportunity to learn something at their own relative speed or pace.
In Flipside Education, every student is closely monitored by their tutors. Which is interesting because every day, their teachers learns something new about about their student. This is the ideal education system that every school should practice, a institution where students learn from their teachers and vice-versa.
Based from the academic grades and personal experiences of my son, he had a fun time in Flipside Education. I can see the progress he had made since day one. He came to understand math and the importance of numbers step by step.
I remember my old days where I had to study math, and we were engaged in a traditional way of learning. There was the basic lecturing, exams, and assignments. Yes, some classes were boring but we had to go through them every day. If the teacher was having a hard time explaining lessons to us, we were having a hard time learning as well.
This is why the progression of education has evolved ever since. With schools like Flipside Education, classrooms aren’t filled with masters and slaves, they’re gathered with mentors and students. Each child can learn at their own pace, and the teachers will care for them them during each struggle.
Being academically challenged is almost a thing of the past if innovative teaching methods are gradually progressing. If more teachers incorporated this style of “flipping the classroom” teaching, more students would learn—not just kids, but grown-ups as well!
My son had a great time at Flipside Education. Learning through a math tutor in Singapore was no longer an option for me, because I want what’s best for my son. Giving tuition for maths here in Singapore is one of the best decisions I made for my child. He enjoyed a healthy and fruitful learning experience, something that isn’t easily acquirable.
