I find golf boring at first. I thought this was a sport that was supposed to be lazy, rich people. But my perspective changed when I started working in the corporate world. I was a secretariat in an affluent fashion manufacturing corporation. My boss is the owner and president so I would always get dragged in his golf sessions with his friends. I did not know how to play it so I just stood there and waited for them to finish their games. Since I was getting tired of this setup, I decided to learn it and searched for a golf academy.
Luckily, I found one that offers affordable golf lessons for beginners. They even have golf training for both adults and kids. I thought this would be a good opportunity to get to bond and spend time with my son. I haven’t had time lately with him because I have a busy schedule at work. When I told my son about this, I was surprised that he agreed to do it with me. On the following week, we signed up for the parent and child program. Here are some of the things that we loved the most when we started playing golf:
· The Coaches
When I first checked the profile of their coaches, I felt kind of intimidated because everyone seems to have achieved a lot over the past few years. Although this is a good thing because this means that they definitely know the ins and outs of golfing, I just got worried that I might look stupid in front of the masters. But all these anxious thoughts went away when I met the coaches. All of them are very accommodating and friendly. It was easy to get along with them. Even my son (who was so shy and timid) became easily comfortable with them. Moreover, the coaches are very patient. No matter how many times we failed to carry out a particular move, they would never lose their cool and they would always motivate us to do better.
· The Golf Course
Their golf course is one of the things I liked the most when I signed up for this golf training in Singapore. It looks beautiful with all the surrounding nature around it. It doesn’t look like the place was heavily renovated. Instead, the obstacles and bunkers were designed according to the natural terrain of the land. Plus, the artificial features do not even look fake. They blended well with the green grass and trees.
Moreover, the golf course isn’t too difficult. I just realised after we have finished a few lessons. I find it not too difficult not because I became a pro at it and I had a natural talent in golf, but because it was playable even for beginners like us. We managed to land a few clean shots throughout the whole training.
Me and my son definitely had a great time thanks to their coaches and of course, to the whole golf academy staff. I can now play confidently with my boss, and I even get to hang out with son.
